A TRIP TO ENGLAND

Mrs.G and I went to England for the wedding of Max & Mike and also to visit our various relatives.

Driving in England is exciting especially if you start immediately after an overnight flight with little or no sleep. We got our rental car then headed to Milton Keynes, which is approximately 30-40 MILES. At the first roundabout we took a wrong exit the end results was a 132 MILE drive to get there due to various problems BUT that is part of the fun of driving in England.

The embarrassing part was trying to explain it to Geoff & Marilyn who were expecting us before noon and we arrived at approx. 3PM. however they were very understanding and got a good laugh out of the whole series of events that took place just trying to get to their house, mostly as a result of getting used to a righthand drive car, driving on the left side of the road, roundabouts & constant tailgating high speed English drivers, plus no sleep on the plane.

We had a super time although too brief visit with them then headed to Minehead mostly avoiding the M series roadways.

Driving around the roads of the west country is great fun and sometimes very close quarters as you can see in this picture.

Sometimes we had to take short cuts to get to where we wanted to be.

Sometimes the bridges were a close fit, BUT the whole time not one scratch on the car. It was a new Nissan with 10 Miles on it when we got it.

We had a great time visiting all the relatives and friends, too many for me to mention considering how long it takes me to type, but the 3 weeks seemed like 3 days because we enjoyed it so much.

There were many tearful goodbyes.

We put 1180 miles on the car AND nothing to GRYPE about.

You're really not as much of a gryper as you like people to believe.

You're also getting very clever with blogger, putting pictures up and even getting the text closely lined up with the pictures.

You're a brave guy driving on the wrong side of the road after an overnight flight. I'm too chicken to do it at any time. (If cycling England is too risky, maybe I'll have to hike it.)
